Company

An old idea, built into new machines.

Hexis Dynamics builds autonomous systems for defense. Our name comes from Aristotle. So does our standard.

Mission

Give the people who protect us machines they can trust: systems that see clearly, decide well, and hold up when conditions are at their worst.

Our name

hexis /ˈhɛk.sɪs/ · noun · Ancient Greek

A settled state of excellence, built by training.

In the Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle describes excellence as a hexis: a stable state earned through practice, not something you are born with. One good act is not enough. Excellence is what you do reliably, under pressure, again and again.

That is the standard we hold our machines to, and ourselves.

Principles

How we work.

Four rules we use to make decisions when the right answer is not obvious.

  • Training

    Trained, not tuned

We test until the right behaviour is the default, not a lucky result.

  • Ownership

    Build it ourselves

We keep the critical parts in-house so we can move fast and stand behind them.

  • Field

    The worst day counts

A system is only as good as it is on its worst day in the field.

  • Standard

    Hold the line

We do the unglamorous checks every time. That is where reliability comes from.

Ahead

Machines that learn, and last.

The next decade of defense will depend on autonomous systems that people can trust. We are building the company to make them.
